Prirodno-matematički fakultet je osnovan 1969. g. ali se nastava za studijske grupe za hemiju, fiziku, matematiku, biologiju i geografiju održavala, pre osnivanja fakulteta, na Filozofskom fakultetu od školske 1961/62 g. Od datuma osnivanja na fakultetu je diplomiralo 6054 studenata, magistriralo 445 a doktorsku disertaciju odbranilo je 355 kandidata. Fakultet ima pet instituta: Institut za fiziku, Institut za biologiju, Institut za geografiju, Institut za hemiju i Institut za matematiku.

The Faculty of Sciences was founded in 1969. Before its foundation, courses in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Geography were taught at the Faculty of Philosophy from the academic 1961/62. Since the founding of the Faculty, 6054 students have completed the undergraduate programme, 106 students have finished Specialist studies, 445 students have attained Master's degrees and 355 candidates have been awarded with the academic title of Ph.D.
